What is Quantum Hypnosis (QHHT)?
Updated: Sep 23
The word "hypnosis" often brings to mind smoking cessation or weight loss, maybe a video of someone nodding off to a swinging pocket watch and following commands. That image usually comes with the idea that someone else takes the wheel, and you lose control of yourself. Quantum hypnosis is something entirely different. It's not about programming you toward a specific outcome, and no one directs you from the outside. You remain aware throughout and you direct your own experience. In this blog post, I'll walk through what quantum hypnosis actually is, how a session unfolds, and who it's suited for.
QHHT in short
QHHT stands for Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique. It's a method developed by Dolores Cannon, in which the client is guided into a deep, relaxed state. In this state, the mind quiets down, outside noise fades, and attention turns inward.
An important distinction from the usual idea of hypnosis is that you remain aware the entire time. You don't lose control, you don't fall asleep, and you don't act on anyone's commands. It's closer to a deep state of focus, similar to meditation or the edge of sleep, but guided and purposeful.

What does "quantum" mean in quantum hypnosis?
The word "quantum" might bring physics or scientific theory to mind, but that's not the sense in which it's used in the name of the method. Dolores Cannon, who developed the QHHT method, used the term to describe the idea that consciousness can reach beyond the ordinary sense of time and place, further than an everyday, limited perspective suggests. "Quantum" here refers to the scope of the experience, not to the theories or proven phenomena of quantum physics.
In practice, this means the session is about offering a space where you can examine your own inner world without the usual limits on what's "possible" to see or understand.
How a session unfolds
A quantum hypnosis session has four stages.
Opening conversation. We go through your situation, your hopes, and the topics you want clarity on. This stage isn't about analyzing or solving things at the level of the mind, but about building a shared understanding of where to start.
Guided deep relaxation. I guide you calmly into a deeply relaxed state. Your mind settles, but you remain aware throughout.
Consciousness work. In this state, attention shifts away from automatic thought and emotional patterns. You can view, understand, and even reshape and renew experiences, beliefs, and inner structures from a distance, without identifying with them.
Return and closing conversation. We return calmly to a normal state of consciousness and go through what came up, what it means to you, and how you can use what you experienced in your life.
The full session lasts about 2-2.5 hours and is held remotely.
What can be addressed in a session
Quantum hypnosis can be used to, among other things:
examine recurring patterns, sticking points, or inner conflicts in life
safely face fears or old emotional layers
release limiting beliefs
gain clarity on relationships, work, finances, or choices
explore themes related to health, sleep, or restlessness
The experience is always individual, and no specific outcome can or needs to be expected in advance.

Will I lose control?
This is the most common question, and the answer is clear: no, you won't. You remain aware, active, and present throughout. You can speak, move, change the direction of your experience, or stop at any time. You direct your own experience; I create a safe space and guide the process.
Is this therapy?
No. Quantum hypnosis is not medical treatment and does not replace therapy. It's an experiential method for self-exploration, insight, and inner clarity.
Who quantum hypnosis is for
Quantum hypnosis is for you if you want to stop and look at yourself and your life more honestly; if you're seeking clarity but not ready-made answers from outside; and if you're ready to take responsibility for your own life. An open mind is enough; nothing needs to be "believed" or known in advance.
